Goldeimer — Mobile Composting Toilets

Goldeimer - literally translated “golden bucket” - is a clean, sustainable and fun sanitation solution for large scale events like music festivals.

The Goldeimer toilets are designed to close nutrient cycles, safe water and turn faeces into gold - or better to say humus.

Being set up as a social business, Goldeimer contributes to a universal access to improved sanitation for those 2.4 bn people who do not have a safe toilet or practice open defecation: A large proportion of profits generated by Goldeimer finances sanitation and water projects of Viva con Agua and the Welthungerhilfe.

Apart from its activities as a social business, Goldeimer is raising awareness for the worldwide sanitation crisis and informing young people in situations where they are confronted with a serious problem people face in refugee camps or slums: no or bad toilets.

Goldeimer started its activities in 2013 (kick started by the yooweedoo project, the predecessor of with two toilets and grew to a number of 62 toilets in 2015. Until know Goldeimer successfully brought sustainable sanitation to around 40 events and counted around 100.000 uses all together.

For the future Goldeimer plans to extend their number of toilets and also the range of events and applications.
