Get to know the projects of four young social entrepreneurs from Northern Germany:

These last four projects are supported by the program Zukunftsmacher (Changemakers). It is a unique program, developed by the University of Kiel that empowers citizens to become changemakers and create and test their own ideas for sustainable development in an entrepreneurial manner.

Zukunftsmacher works in three steps. First, it offers an open access structured but diverse learning program, which supports people with ideas to form a team and create a social business plan. Second it runs the yooweedoo ideas competition which provides pilot phase funding for promising ideas. Third, it provides individual support and coaching for those teams selected in the competition throughout the six months pilot phase.

Ideas and projects generated tackle a large variety of social and environmental problems in fields such as climate change, sustainable, social cohesion, migration, human rights, education, food and nutrition, etc etc etc.

Hence, Zukunftsmacher provides a testing ground for bottom up ideas. And then, once successfully piloted, step by step they may grow into large-scale systemic solutions and/or acts as a role models for encouraging others.
