Climate change poses the serious challenge of carbon dioxide emission reduction. Emission control by developing countries is becoming a key for effective mitigation of climate change, as those countries now account for more than a half of global emissions and are still expanding their energy infrastructure.

Deploy renewable energies in developing countries by learning from advanced examples.

More sustainable energy technologies can be adopted at grassroots levels as demonstrated by the Barefoot College in India with solar lighting systems. There are other examples of effective policies on renewable energy technologies elsewhere, including in China. Developing countries could implement those technologies by learning from such advanced examples. Renewable energies such as solar power could be implemented in a bottom-up fashion at the village level.
