What is the GESA?
The goal of the Global Economic Student Association (GESA) is to expose bright, active, promising students from around the world to the challenges of global problem-solving. Through this Community, university students are exposed to the debates on how to deal with major global problems and are called to contribute to this debate.
The Student Association provides new blood to the GES Community, helping the GES gain access to insightful, talented young people who can be expected to drive global problem-solving initiatives forward in the future. Since the GES is committed to finding concrete proposals to create a more prosperous, fairer and securer world for the next generation, the Student Association is an integral part of the GES aspiration.
Members of the Student Association must aspire to contribute to addressing global challenges, engage in community-building to promote the global public interest, and communicate debates and solution proposals to the wider world. The GES is meant to help students refine their global problem-solving skills through the GES online student discussion forums, the research resources of the Virtual GES, as well as exposure to the debates and solution proposals of the senior decision makers of the GES.
As noted, members of the GESA are called to contribute their ideas on global problem-solving. The discussions will take place in the GESA Solution Fora. Members are invited to suggest and discuss topics of global importance and develop concrete solutions proposals for them. The authors of the best contributions will receive the GES Outstanding Young Scholars Award, entitling them to participation in the GES and interaction with the senior GES Community.
The Student Association comprises Student Leaders and Registered Members:
- Student Leaders are chosen by invitation only. Their aim is to identify unusual talent among the Registered Members, as well as to guide and oversee the online student discussions in the GESA Fora.
- Registered Members are university students who have the necessary qualifications to join the Student Association (good knowledge and passionate interest in a relevant subject matter). They may register on the GES Website to take part in the discussions and to contribute their ideas. Members of the Student Association must have a passionate interest in promoting sustainable economic development, social cohesion, innovation and growth, empowerment of the poor, and economic, political and social security.
